Welcome to the Assistive Technology Practitioner Society
The Assistive Technology Sector is an extremely important part of modern-day care management. The equipment it provides transforms lives, facilitating those with a need to improve independence and enhance safer living.
|
|
The BHTA has launched an exciting initiative for people working in the assistive technologies sector - the skills and experience of whom has previously gone largely unacknowledged.
The ATP Society aims to recognise job competences and raise standards, in turn giving members of the public, and professionals, the confidence that if they deal with a Registered Practitioner they are dealing with someone they can trust.
Every registered individual has an identity card and a certificate of proof of his or her registration (and at what level). There is a special Code of Conduct for the scheme, too, which every member agrees to follow.

Look for the Badge of Trust |
| Are you a therapist, social worker, health visitor, doctor, nurse or other healthcare professional?
Are you involved in the provision of or advice regarding Assistive Technology equipment?
Are you confident you can distinguish trustworthy practitioners from the rest?
Can you demonstrate adequate risk analysis in this context?
Find out why you should only work with trustworthy practical people who are registered with the ATP Society.
They may be assessors of equipment; installers; repair persons; engineers and salespeople all of whom have joined a credible body to demonstrate their skills and competence.
We check them and ensure they keep learning. So you can know who to trust. And feel safe about recommending them to those who trust you.

| Are you thinking of buying some equipment to help you get about, live more independently or more safely?
Equipment like hand rails, bathing items, walking items, wheelchairs, stairlifts and so on is now known as Assistive Technology.
Are you confident you can distinguish trustworthy, capable Assistive Technology people from the rest?
You need to be sure that the person who is dealing with your enquiry is capable and working to a code of conduct.
The most trustworthy practical people are registered with the ATP Society. Find out who they are. Ask for their badge, just like you would ask a gas fitter for their credentials.
They may be assessors of equipment; installers; repair persons; engineers and salespeople all of whom have joined a credible body to demonstrate their skills and competence.

How do you personally project your competence?
How do you give extra confidence to the clinical professional or consumer?
How do you show your boss just how capable you are and really demonstrate your added value to your company?
