ATP Registered Practitioners are practical people, experienced in so many aspects of the health and social care arena.

They have dedicated their expertise to providing practical, hands-on support, services, products and solutions that make a real difference. Formerly there was no body or organisation to which they could belong and achieve due recognition of their valued role in health and social care.

A BHTA registration scheme commenced in 2001. In 2009 a separate organisation was formed by the BHTA and named the ATP Society. It is a forum with a code of conduct for hands on people in the Assistive Technology sector. During the period of its existence, there have been many people who have met the criteria and paid their subscriptions. Those Registered Practitioners have agreed to abide by a code of conduct. They are collectively known as "Practitioners” and are allowed to use the letters ATP Soc after their name once they have passed the entry qualification criteria.

The ATP Society is run by a steering group of its members who meet 6 times a year. This separate arms-length organisation takes advantage of recent vocational skills courses and associated qualifications and which will provide the following:-

•Certificated recognition of skills/competency and entry on our register
•Raising of standards
•Governance and disciplinary function
•Education and training

Our own experience and customers in this sector tell us that the requirement for a way of recognising true Practical Assistive Technology Professionals is becoming critical to meet the sophisticated demands of today's service users and consumers. It's important to clinicians risk management and raises the key performance improvements to which all in the supply chain and assessment processes aspire.

Primary Objectives for the ATP Society:
